New Music News

Broken Bells- DJ Danger Mouse + James Mercier of the Shins= Fantastic!

Smashing Pumpkins
There are two new tracks from his new 44 track project called "Teargarden by Kaleidyscope". They sound more like his his old side project Zwan then Smashing Pumpkins. But I will say I'm glad to hear he has stripped his goth sound that he's had since Adore. Being friends with Marilyn Manson did nothing for his sound.

The White Stripes -have a new album being released in March and is available for preorder in a boxset. It is the soundtrack called Under Great White Northern Lights chronicles the duo's 2007 Canadian Tour. The film will premiere at SXSW.

The Killers- The band was planning to go on hiatus after the Asia Tour concerts but have since canceled the tour.
New Pornographers to Release Fifth Album this May.
The Magnetic Fields have a new album "Realism" streaming on their Myspace. It's a stripped down "folk" version of the band that was recorded during "Distortion" tours.

Infographics Resume

I think this is a wonderful idea for a graphic designers resume'. It's quick and easy to read and well executed. Reminds me to update mine.

Key West Commercial

I think this is the worst commercial ever. The tagline must have been something created in a drunken state of somekind.

These are a close runner up.

Classic Album Cover Stamps

I've never understood stamp collecting. I know it's a form of art collecting, but I (usually) think of it as what most people would consider corporate art. It's a company telling you what's beautiful. That was until the Simpsons stamps some may even say the Elvis stamp made collecting popular. I don't judge it's just not for me.

I may have to change my thoughts with these stamps.

But since when is anything by Coldplay classic? Let It Bleed I agree with, but Coldplay. That's a stretch.

Vinyl Art

I found this great artist today. Create lifelike acrylic paintings on vinyl records.
http://www.vinylart.info/

Welcome

First let me say please bare with me. I've never had a blog and thought I'd try something new. My intension is to bring the two things that interest me at the present moment, vinyl and design. What goes together better? Everyone thinks they are a designer and I've never met anyone who doesn't think they have taste in music.

Design-
My intension is to make this an informative archive of the sites I like and dislike. They all have to do with design whether intensional or otherwise. Let me point them out.

Music-
I find a lot of great deals out there on vinyl and want to share them with my fellow collectors. What's a good price and my thoughts on the crazy prices people pay for a hobby. I'm also interested in making this a way to expand my collection and any readers.

If I find that anyone reads this I hope to expand it into a full website.

Thanks for reading.
